Cats have an odd way of confronting a bladder infection. While the disease causes them to excrete minimal urine and experience pain as well, the typical feline psyche would conclude that the litter box is causing all the discomforts. That is why bladder infections can lead your cat astray and make it use the bathroom in all the wrong places.
As per definition, a urinary tract infection is a medical condition characterized by the bacterial contamination of the walls of the urethra, or with the kidney. In a few instances, bladder infections are caused by underlying disorders that include the formation of bladder or kidney stones that may be disrupting the smooth flow of urine.
In the case of cats, bladder infections usually come about as a consequence to the type of food they eat. A veterinarian will most likely prescribe antibiotics to kill the bacteria infecting the urethra or the bladder. Though potent, be aware that antibacterial medicine has the potential of harming the beneficial bacteria and cause gastrointestinal disorders and weaken the immune defenses of your pet. A better alternative, for cat health, is to feed your cat garlic and a dose of cranberry juice; both contain natural anti-microbial substances that will eliminate bacteria as well as the symptoms of the infection. You can also try a pet herbal supplement that have been specially formulated to clear the symptoms of UTI and restore the urinary health of your pet cat.
